Cervical Check is a national screening programme to prevent and control cervical cancer. The programme provides smear tests to women between the ages of 25 and 60. A smear test is a simple procedure that only takes minutes and is the most effective way to detect changes in the cells of the cervix.

Smears are routinely carried out every 3-5 years by our Practice Nurse and should be carried out mid menstrual cycle; you will normally receive a letter from Cervical Check reminding you when your next smear is due. If you are worried or experiencing symptoms including bleeding after intercourse please make an appointment with one of our GPs.
